Greyhound Pets of America
Daytona Beach
GPA/Daytona Beach is staffed solely by volunteers. To continue to be able to find homes for retired racing greyhounds, we need you! There are many ways to help.
To volunteer, please contact: (386) 239-3647 or gpadaytona1@cfl.rr.com
Ways To Volunteer with GPA/Daytona:
Although they can run 45 MPH, the greyhounds do rely on us for their transportation. They need to be transported from the kennel, to the vet for medical treatment, and moved from one foster home to another. So if you've got some wheels during the day that could use a companion, let us know.
Newsletter Assembly/Mailing:
Our newsletter goes out on a Quarterly basis to not only our group but to non-members as well. The newsletter describes all the goings-on of GPA/Daytona. It takes a lot of time, effort, and energy (not to mention folding, stapling, and mailing). Of course, an early scoop on the latest GPA news is an added benefit..
Petsmart/Meet & Greets:
Our Meet & Greets allow the greyhounds to help each other by simply being themselves in public and showing people who they are-they do the meeting and we do the greeting. There are tables to set up as well as brochures, picture boards, and signs that need to be put up and taken down. It's a good activity you can do with your dog.
Donations:
As a non-profit corporation, we rely on donations to feed and house retired racing greyhounds, and to cover the cost of emergency veterinary care. Your donations of the following items are gratefully accepted: money, dog food, portable crates for a single dog, veterinary care, advertising, printing, or anything else that you might think would be of benefit to GPA/Daytona Beach. As we are an all volunteer organization, 100% of your donation goes towards the dogs.
Errands
There are many things that can be accomplished during the day when other volunteers are at work. Let us know if your schedule would permit some assistance, many fun surprises pop up during the week.
Ideas:
We are always looking for good ideas!
Please know there are many ways you can help GPA help the retired racing greyhounds. In the hustle & bustle world we live in today, not everyone has the time to volunteer on a regular basis, so don't think that volunteering is a 24/7 job for everyone...there's is a place for everyone and no effort is too small.
The possibilities are unlimited and the greyhounds reward all efforts, big and small, with their loving appreciation. All of these activities are ongoing and staffed by volunteers. If you'd like to help, please contact us at (386) 239-3647 or gpadaytona1@cfl.rr.com
